FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY!!!!!
Well all in all, an interesting week, though not for all the right reasons.
Ran around campus, as well as the trip south to Zuni to finalize our distance education "smart classrooms" which for better or worse go live this semester. Things were a bit squirly, as you might expect when dealing with large telcos, who work on their own damn flavor of deadlines. Still we're good to go as far as infrastructure goes, lets hope the instructors are ready too.
Working with computers for a living, gives you the option, nay, the need for quality computers, and computing accessories. I have definitely sated that jones with a shipment of silicon goodness - for those that speak the language:
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (Mo betta fast)
MOBO: ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (Swanky and loaded with everything I need)
CASE: Let's just say it's bright green, and glows (no joke)
MEMORY: 1GB Corsair DDR
Well those are the high points. still have a few more upgrades to make, but the core of the system is rockin'. Can't wait to put it through it's paces this weekend.
Aside from technical achievements at work and home, I did have one downer of a llunchtime yesterday. While driving home for lunch, I came down my street, and saw a little black Chihuahua dart across the road. (Dogs in the road are ubiquitous in Gallup). As I got closer to where the black dog ran accross the road, i caught a glimpse of a second (albeit brown) Chihuahua darting at my car. I immediately slammed on the brakes (i was probably only doing 20) and heard the car skid (which the cinders on the road from snowfalls past helped enhance) and then the sound. A shrieking, squealing, pain riddled cry. I managed to determine that the dog was not pinned and pulled into my driveway, and made my way back up to where the dog was terrified that it was going to be breathing its last. The dogs owners were home, and had come out to see what was going on. By the time I got to them, the owner had the pup in his arms, and the dog's rear leg was twisted, and bloody. Amazingly though, the dog seemed alert, and wasn't crying excessively (I know I would have been), and the owners were wasting no time in getting it off to the vet. Needless to say, I felt pretty awful.
Overall, a week with ups and downs. Life is like that, I hear.
go and tell me all about it
